Chongqing-based artist Huang Jie’s solo exhibition "Tiger Rose" opened on the 6th of November 2021. Comprising newly completed mixed media works, the show is scheduled to end on the 12th of December.

Huang Jie believes that the aesthetic of SaMaTe has exerted an influence on today’s artistic creation and aesthetics through an out-of-control way. Thus, he starts from the aesthetic perspective of rural areas and collides directly with consumer culture. In terms of materials, Huang Jie negates the past norms and only selects materials for the content of expression and uses corresponding techniques. After the interplay of materials and images, new images are accidentally produced. What Huang Jie expects is to reshape a new aesthetic way and visual cognition so as to explore artistic possibilities.

Huang Jie was born in Heyuan, Guangdong Province in China in 1991. He graduated with a B.A in 2015 and a M.A. in 2020 from the Department of Oil Painting at Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts. Currently, he lives and works in Chongqing.
