Chu Sixian :Juvenile Nameless
Gallery 55 is pleased to announce that Chu Sixian’s individual exhibition “Juvenile Nameless" will open on March the 15th, 2025, showing acrylic works on canvas created by the artist in the year of 2024. This is Chu Sixian’s debut solo show at Gallery 55. The exhibition is expected to end on April the 20th.
In this exhibition "Juvenile Nameless”, "Juvenile" represents a state of life. It is the vitality of the suppression of death. It is the courage of the bold impact on the established fate. As a sign of identity and a symbol of identity rights, “Nameless people" will get a "new name" once they find the rights they want to defend. For the artist Chu Sixian, defending the rights of painters is his new name. The understanding of the exhibition works starts from the most basic "line" and "color" of painting, and reconstructing the relationship between line and color from the perspective of the individual painter. The "deviation" of line and color from each other has become the painting motivation for the construction of this relationship. In the process, the artist got rid of the traditional painting’s pursuit of shape. Through the individual projection in the painting, new modeling results are produced. And finally more accurate and specific narrative effects are presented. For Chu Sixian, returning to the deviation of the relationship between line and color is an extremely important starting point for painting today. In this process of deviation, the painter will build a unique picture structure of his own, showing the most direct differential expression. To be clear, these works are not an attempt to tell a specific story, nor are they intended to lure the viewer’s aesthetic with the taste of design. From beginning to end, what Chu Sixian tries to do and throughout the whole painting process is to show people’s spiritual power as painters and the individual differentiation generated in the painting process.
