Water is a deep cultural symbol in Chinese tradition. Chen Duxi’s description of water is exploring and continuing the fit between water and body of the ancients. Chen Duxi’s experience in observing water partly comes from hearing, or his paintings come from his experience of changes in the rhythm and speed of water. Starting from different faces such as movement, hair generation and flowing, Chen Duxi jointly organised a presentation of various forms of water from the same perspective for different objects. These include melting, flowing, traces and infiltrating all things. From distant space-time to the future cycle, we can see the power of the vitality ontology. Go back to the most direct painting itself and experience movement in a sporty way.
Chen Duxi was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in 1983. He graduated from Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts of Sichuan Conservatory of Music in 2006; and graduated from the Oil Painting Refresher Course of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2008. He now lives and works in Beijing.
