Most of Zheng Mengqiang’s works are based on personal growth stories, relying on various emotions he experienced and precipitated, and searching for creative inspiration from memories and dreams. Picture composition form, he can draw lessons from some elements in the film and photographic techniques to extract characters (such as lens flu composition, shape and the layout of the light, etc.), then use the image structure, restructuring, symbol, present a sculpture of solidification moment, finally to rebuild their ideal images of the situation. In terms of language techniques, he used to filter and condense the life images left in his growth process by using geometric figurative modeling. The cold coast of his hometown, the long road, the deep blue moon night, the pink rocks, the lovers embracing each other, the migrating relatives and so on, all become the objects of repeated expression in his works. And the alienation and intimacy, sadness and joy, hardness and softness... These contradictions and collisions are the kernel of thoughts that he really wants to express in his works.

Zheng Mengqiang was born in China in 1987. He received a B.A. in painting from Tianjin Academy of Art in 2011. Currently, he lives and works in Beijing.
