Painting for Xiao Bo, on one hand represents a kind of flat way of work, while on the other hand, it also embodies an equal artistic attitude. When the work abandons the subjectively set image, the form grows automatically according to certain logic. The language it forms will depend on time and space. With the deduction of time and the extension of space, the work is fixed at the top of the logic. That is the visual. The sketch series takes the subjective consciousness away temporarily, to give the picture an flexible space. The existence and the occurrence exist only through the body and the motion trajectory of the material itself. The picture is parallel to the external world as a proof of existence. In terms of creating attitudes, Xiao Bo is more inclined to be an observer rather than a controller. Neither intentional, nor expressive, nor pressing hard.

Xiao Bo was born in Hangzhou in 1977. He graduated from the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou in 1999. Currently, he lives and works in Hangzhou.
